Acne doesn’t always leave when teenage years end. A lot of women still deal with it as adults. Some have breakouts once in a while, others feel like it never stops. It can be around your chin, your cheeks, your neck. Some bumps hurt, some just stay there and never heal. For many women, it gets worse right before their period. Some get it during pregnancy. Others notice it after stopping birth control. It’s different for everyone, but one thing’s the same, it’s frustrating.
Acne can have more to do with hormones than anything else. That’s why we look at your skin and your health as a whole. We don’t just look at where the pimples are. We ask when they show up. What makes them worse? What your skin has been through. What products you’ve tried. What your body’s going through.
We treat adult acne like the medical skin condition it is. Whether it’s small blackheads or painful cysts, we don’t ignore it. We manage it. Carefully. Thoughtfully. Based on your skin type, your cycle, your stress levels, and your history.
Hormonal acne is common in women, especially around the jawline. But there are other kinds too. Acne vulgaris, the most typical type, comes in many forms, whiteheads, blackheads, red bumps, deep lumps. We treat all of them. Mild or severe, occasional or chronic. It’s not about quick fixes. It’s about building something that works for your skin.
At our clinic, there’s no “one-treatment-fits-all.” We don’t hand out the same cream to everyone. Your treatment may be straightforward such as a topical cream to reduce oil. Or it may be just a couple of steps, such as regulating your hormones, reducing inflammation, and restoring your skin barrier. We also minimize the chances of scarring in future as we treat acne early and effectively.
Adult women often feel like they should have “grown out of acne” by now. That they’ve done something wrong. However, it is not so. The skin is different as you age, as you stress, as you take hormones. It is not bad to be in need of help. That is what we are here about.
Women’s acne usually starts from the inside. It isn’t always about how clean your skin is. A lot of times, it’s the body responding to shifts, hormonal changes, increased oil, clogged pores, or even coming off a birth control pill. Some women break out right before their period every month. Others notice it starting when they’re under pressure. For some, it began after pregnancy. And for many, it just seems to show up with no clear reason.
Hormones like estrogen and androgens play a big part. These control things like oil production in your skin. When that oil builds up and dead skin cells don’t clear out, pores get blocked. Then come the breakouts.
Here are some of the most common causes we look at during your skin check:
Each woman’s story is different. That’s why we don’t just treat the acne, we figure out what’s behind it. We start there. And then we build your treatment plan around that.
When a woman walks in with acne, we don’t reach for a standard cream or print out a general skin plan. That’s not how it works here. Every face tells a different story. For some, it’s a patch of breakouts that never settles. For others, it’s deep and painful acne that comes and goes with their cycle. And for many, it’s a mix, surface-level bumps, red marks, oily skin, and scarring starting to form. We don’t just treat what we see. We go deeper.
It starts with a proper check. A medical doctor looks at the skin, asks about your cycle, past treatments, stress, what you’ve used before, what’s helped, what’s made it worse. We don’t assume. We ask. We learn.
Because acne isn’t just skin deep. Sometimes it’s about oil glands working overtime. Sometimes it’s hormones rising and falling. Sometimes it’s leftover irritation from products that weren’t right for your skin type. We consider all of it.
Once we understand what’s going on, we build a treatment plan around it. Some women need one thing. Others need a mix. That’s why we keep it flexible and focused.
Your plan may include things like:
We select what you require, nothing more, nothing less. Some women get results with a cream and follow-up support. Others need a more layered plan. Either way, we guide you through it with clarity.
We don’t promise overnight results. But what we offer is steady, careful management of acne. With regular reviews, updates when needed, and full support from start to finish.
When breakouts follow a pattern, every month, same spot, same time, it’s not random. It’s your hormones.
Hormonal acne shows up before periods. It tends to sit along the jaw, chin, sometimes down the neck. The bumps are deep, tender, and hard to cover. They linger. They return. This isn’t surface-level acne. This is something tied to what’s happening inside your body.
It’s common. And yes, it can be treated.
We don’t just give creams for hormonal acne. That’s not enough. We look at what your body’s telling us. How your skin reacts. What your cycle looks like. If you’ve been on or off birth control. If your hormone levels are pushing oil production too far. And once we see the pattern, we treat the cause.
We use targeted options to help bring things back into balance.
Hormonal acne takes time. But with the right plan, it gets better. We’ve seen it happen. And we’re here to help you through it, one step at a time.
When the breakouts are deep, painful or simply refuse to calm down, we turn to the more powerful ones, still safe, still thought out but designed to go deeper and quicker. They are not suitable to all people, but they can be quite helpful when skin requires additional assistance.
We apply some various in-clinic procedures, depending on what your skin is facing. Others assist in dragging out what is clogging your pores. The other ones are aimed at the bacteria that is located beneath the skin and makes it swollen. Different types of therapy assist in the reduction of the thick and inflamed bumps that are not self-limiting. They are not short term solutions, but they accelerate the healing process when everything has failed.
Here are some of the treatments we might suggest:
We don’t push these treatments on anyone. But for women who’ve tried everything and still feel stuck, these give real results. They help your skin reset. Heal faster. And feel more like yours again.
Once the acne is calm, it’s not always over. Many women are left with dark spots, dents in the skin, or rough texture. Even if the breakouts are gone, the marks stay. This is common. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. But it’s something that can be treated.
We include scar care as part of the journey, not something extra, not something forgotten. We look at your skin once the active acne is under control and decide the best way to help it recover fully.
We offer:
We know scars carry more than just a mark. They’re reminders of a tough time with your skin. That’s why we help fade them, with care, and with time.
All acne treatments are not effective on all women. And there are some that are effective but they have risks. That is why we are cautious and thoughtful in our approach at Longevity Clinic, particularly in women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have sensitive skin, or are attempting to avoid some medications. We do not hurry. We do not speculate.
There are also certain treatments such as oral isotretinoin which may lead to side effects when not taken care of. Some of them might not be appropriate to you due to your hormone level, your age, or your history. We keep all of this in mind when planning your care. Every plan is checked and adjusted by a medical doctor. Every treatment is monitored closely.
You’re never just handed a script and sent home. You’re cared for, checked on, and supported through each step.
Here’s how we keep things safe and smart:
You’re not on your own here. We walk with you the whole way.
Getting help doesn’t have to be complicated. We keep it simple. At Longevity Clinic, it all begins with a private consultation. We talk through your skin concerns, check what’s going on underneath, and map out a plan that fits you.
Here’s why women trust us with their skin:
You don’t have to keep guessing. Let’s get your skin the care it deserves.
